![]() Clearly that is not needed at your current TiVo location because, you just told us you have it connected now to wired Ethernet! If you need more than one wired Ethernet connection at the same location (such as for both the TV and the TiVo at the same time), just buy any cheap Ethernet switch with at least as many ports as you need.Īs for the old powerline adapters, remove them all unless you need one of them to connect to some remote place in your house where you do not have any other option for a wired Ethernet connection. We can only guess at what things you might have done in the past to set up your home network, but it certainly sounds like you need to start over fresh with the help of someone who knows this stuff.Ī powerline adapter is only needed it you have a location in your house where you cannot run an Ethernet cable. Am I right? I don't understand electronics very well, but this makes sense now if this is the case. So, what I am thinking is that by using the ethernet cable I don't even need the powerline adaptors. The powerline adaptors are instead of using the wireless N adaptor or any other device like that. When I first used the powerline adaptors I didn't use an ethernet cable. Can anyone explain this to me? Why did I need a powerline in the first place? But, it seems to be working without the powerline adaptors. I was using the powerline adaptors to download my shows, etc. The one thing I am worried about is that I had to take my powerline adaptor out of the Tivo ethernet port to put in the ethernet cable instead. Now that I have connected the ethernet directly to the Tivo it's downloading everything. ![]() So I connected the Ethernet cable to my smart TV itself yesterday, and all was well except for Tivo not recognizing it. I think that adaptor went bad because the TV said I wan't connected to the internet and Tivo stopped connecting on 9/4/20. Makes sense, but it worked before by being in the ethernet adaptor I had attached to my Amazon Firestick. The CS rep had me take the ethernet cable out of my TV and put it into the Tivo itself. I called Tivo back today because no one called me when they said they would. I want to update everyone on what's happening. KMTTG can provide those details, even while the TiVo is being used: I reboot and all is well unless I use search. That's when nothing pops up and it all seems to disconnect from the internet. I can download programs and everything seem to be working until I use the search feature. I also got the message they there was no gateway to be found or some such language. In trying to find out why I can't connect, I clicked on various links on Tivo, and after trying to connect got the message that they couldn't find the DHCP server. My Smart TV connects to wi-fi and my ethernet cable just fine. All my digital devices are connecting to the wifi just fine. I called Tivo, but they said it was my router, and they want to do a conference call between me, Tivo and TP-Link tomorrow. In the meantime, you can watch live TV, recordings, and on demand shows. ![]() Don't worry-we'll have things back to normal shortly. "There is a temporary problem with the connection to the TiVo Service. ![]()
